The Maestros

The plants are the source of the wisdom and gifts we receive and the role of the Maestro is to translate their decades of experience working with the teachings of these plant spirits and all they have to offer. Through their extensive work in these realms they are able to guide pasajeros through the process of healing modalities such as master plant dietas, shipibo steams, floral baths, and the multidimensional aspects of ceremony, among others. By connecting to their ancestral lineage, the wisdom of the plants, and leveraging their experience through navigating these worlds, they are able to conduct and transmit these elements and energies into masterful symphony of healing unique, to the Shipibo Onanyas.

Our Shipibo Maestros carry forth the teachings of their lineage with honor and humility. They share their knowledge with an open heart and humble approach. In the world of Amazonian curanderismo several dichotomies exist in relation to how healers conduct them selves through life both in and outside of ceremony and dieta. The gentle and kind nature of our Maestros and the ethics that shape their being and behavior are some of the most important aspects of why we devote our selves to them as teachers and examples. It is rare to find such authentic and caring people without agendas and we are proud that this ethos shapes what Metsa Nete is.

More on Onanya and the Shipibo healing system:

Maestro Suy

Born and raised in Betania, Peru, Maestro Suy originates from a lineage of Shipibo Maestros (healers). He began his apprentice path with a year 'plant dieta' at 14 years of age. Through the energetic transmissions of his grandfather, Suy received the wisdom of his ancestors which provided him with a profound connection to the elemental forces.

At 16, he began healing in ceremonies, learning how to diagnose and treat traumas, and with the continued guidance of his elders, he became an accomplished Onanya healer in his early 20’s. Suy's experience includes leading groups within intensive healing programs at centers such as The Temple of the Way of Light and Soltara.

In addition to working with ayahuasca, Suy holds a wealth of plant medicine knowledge derived from a comprehensive holistic system that involves a wide range of plants and trees. At his home center in Peru, he and his brothers, Maestro Limber and Wilson practice the teachings of their grandfather through their medicinal programs. They work with a wide range of medicinal remedies to guide students and patience towards profound healing, and self-understanding.

With a profound understanding of the medicine path, Suy has a deep respect for the responsibilities a healer must honor. He explains that a shamanic healing path is full of trials, and to reach a certain level, one must pass many tests that manifest in all areas of life: within family, friendships, relationships, and with oneself.

“To walk this path with mental strength, integrity, and a heart-centered presence, one must be able to endure its many tests and sacrifices”.

Suy recognizes that some people have lost touch with their cultural roots and soul purpose as a result of losing their authentic direction in life. Many others have lost their relationship with nature, living in a state of numbness in which they are no longer able to feel a connection to themselves or one another.

Dedicated to sharing his ancestral lineage with those who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and the spirit of nature, he encourages anyone wishing to explore this and other plant medicines to walk this path with care, integrity, and good intentions, in order to align the medicine with its proper purpose.

The knowledge I'm imparting is meant to imbue you with wisdom that has the potential to grow within you and blossom throughout your life. Just as when you plant a seed; first it germinates and sends out roots before sprouting and maturing into a plant with its leaves, flowers, and fruits that bear the promise of new seeds - we are the same”.

Maestros Limber & Wilson

Maestro Limber and Wilson work closely with Suy at ‘Metsa Nete’—their plant healing center in Peru. Together, they dedicate themselves to preserving a diverse range of medicinal plants, tending to the earth and honoring the ancient knowledge that guides them to offer transformative processes where Shipibo wisdom and modern healing converge.

A lifetime commitment to this path, they have entrained themselves to channel the spirits of the plants and the infinite teachings that continue to reveal themselves. Through their comprehensive understanding of ayahuasca and other sacred master plants, the three brothers share a unique bond, rooted in their love of their heritage, respect for the plants, and an unwavering commitment to preserve and share their ancestral wisdom with those who seek to connect and learn from our earthly heritage. Their unique skills and abilities form a symbiotic relationship that continues to weave the thread of their ancestral legacy.

“Our path is rooted in the sacred wisdom of plants. It is one of the purest forms of wisdom, since it does not originate from the mind, but from the light of the Sun, and the spirit of the Earth—both directly connected to source, the Creator itself.”
